CUSTOM REAR ENDS 101: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE ORDERING

CUSTOM REAR ENDS 101: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE ORDERING

At Merillat Racing, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all — especially when it comes to rear ends. Whether you're building for small tire, radial, or big tire, we tailor every rear end to your exact needs using a detailed spec sheet to get everything just right.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what we ask for — and why it matters — before we start the build.

1. Basic Vehicle & Setup Info
We'll ask for your car, tire, and wheel specs. This helps us determine width, clearance, and load expectations.

2. Rear End Measurements
We’ll need dimensions like:

Shock Center-to-Center

4-Link Bar Center-to-Center

Housing End to Housing End

Wheel to Wheel Distance

If you’re unsure how to measure these, just ask — or download our spec sheet directly from the site.

3. Brakes & Bolt Circle
Include your bolt pattern, rotor hat thickness, and brake manufacturer so we can ensure compatibility.

4. Suspension Components
Let us know your suspension layout, including:

Pinion Location

Wishbone Location

Wheelie Bar Mount Dimensions

Housing Ends Needed

Add-Ons & Upgrades

We offer multiple add-ons to tailor your housing to your needs:

  • Offset shock mounts

  • Faceplate studs

  • Full floater kit

  • Spindle installs

  • NAS bolt kits

  • Powder coat options

  • Billet shock mount upgrades

You can check the boxes right on the spec sheet to build exactly what you need.

Built In-House, Start to Finish

Every housing is fabricated right here in our shop by our small but experienced crew. We run our own CNC machines, weld each housing, and hand-check every measurement. Marty, who’s a racer himself, is involved in the process daily — because we only build what we’d trust under our own cars.
